On August 26, 2021, the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office was called to the 500 block of 42nd Street in Fairfield to investigate a person who had been shot. Upon arrival, Deputies discovered 44-year-old, Corey Waters dead from an apparent gunshot wound. After completing the investigation, warrants were issued for 18-year-old, Arthur Lee Thomas, Jr. Thomas is the brother of the victim. Thomas, Jr. was taken into custody on the charge of Capital Murder and is being held on no bond.
