Robbery Suspect Arrested in Jefferson County

On Tuesday, October 4, 2025, at approximately 9:00 p.m., deputies with the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office responded to the 4300 block of Bessemer Superhighway to investigate a report of a robbery.

Upon arrival, deputies discovered that an adult female victim had been assaulted and robbed at her food truck. Shoals Ambulance Service responded to the scene and treated the victim for non-life-threatening injuries.

On Wednesday, November 5, 2025, deputies located a male suspect and took him into custody near 40th Street SW and Park Avenue SW in Birmingham, Alabama.

Sheriff Mark Pettway stated, “Great work by our team in getting this suspect off the streets of Jefferson County so quickly. I appreciate the team’s dedication and tenacity, and I also appreciate the unwavering support of our citizens.”

The suspect has been identified as Keith Watts, age, 29. Watts has been charged with:

  • Two counts of Robbery, 1st Degree

  • Burglary, 2nd Degree

  • Certain Persons Forbidden to Possess Firearm

  • Seven counts of Felony Failure to Appear

Watts is currently being held in the Jefferson County Jail with no bond.
