Shooting Victim Update

On May 12, 2024, at approximately 10:08 PM, Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office Deputies responded to the 2400 block of 5th Street NW, Center Point, Alabama to investigate a report of a person shot.  Upon arrival, deputies discovered a 14-year-old male victim (not a 16-year-old male victim as previously reported), suffering from an apparent gunshot wounds.  Center Point Fire and Rescue arrived at the scene a transported the victim to Children’s Hospital for treatment of his wounds.

Preliminary investigation revealed that the victim may have been accidentally shot by a relative.  There is no update as to the condition of the victim.
