On Tuesday, May 14, 2024, at approximately 8:19 PM, deputies responded to Highway 78 at the I-22 overpass to assist the Graysville Police Department with investigating a traffic accident where a pedestrian was struck by a vehicle. Adamsville Fire and Rescue along with Graysville Fire and Rescue responded to the scene and pronounced the 45-year-old male victim deceased.
Preliminary investigation revealed that the victim was crossing the south bound Highway 78 bridge when he was struck by a vehicle while in the center lane. The driver of the vehicle remained at the scene and was cooperative.
The case is still under investigation by the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office. The results of the investigation will be turned over to the Graysville Police Department for review.
