56-Year-Old Dead After Fall From Tree

Just before 1:00 PM today, Jefferson County Sheriff’s Deputies were dispatched to the 6000 block of Lou George Loop in McCalla to investigate the report of a person who had fallen from a tree.  Witnesses at the scene state that the 56-year-old male had climbed into a tree using a ladder, in an attempt to cut some limbs.  One of the limbs reportedly struck the ladder, on which the victim was standing.  The victim fell to the ground, suffering life-threatening injuries.  He was later pronounced dead by medical personnel at the scene.
