Drugs Found During Domestic Violence Arrest

At 2:00 PM on November 15, 2022, deputies in the Bessemer division of the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to the 6000 block of Moore Drive in McCalla to investigate a domestic violence call.  During the investigation, deputies saw a large quantity of marijuana in plain view at the home.  Detectives with the Vice and Narcotics division were called to the location.  They obtained a search warrant for the residence and a vehicle that had been utilized in the initial call for assistance.  During the search, detectives recovered 151 grams of Oxycontin, 117 grams of Hydrocodone, 1360 grams of methamphetamine, 67 grams of Xanax and 3301 grams of marijuana.

Taken into custody at the scene was Ryan Darnell Owens.  The 35-year-old is being charged with 3 counts of drug trafficking, domestic violence 1st degree, unlawful possession of controlled substances and possession of drug paraphernalia.  His bonds total $127,500.00.

Additional arrests from the incident are pending.
