No charges will be filed against a suspect who shot two people with a pellet gun in Clay last week.
About 9:30 last Friday morning deputies responded to a report of two people being shot at a residence in the 6500 block of Clay Palmerdale Road. They arrived to find an adult male and an adult female suffering from gunshot wounds. It was later determined that the victims had been shot with a pellet gun.
Initial information at the scene was that the victims and the suspect had been involved in an ongoing feud for several weeks. The suspect pulled up to their residence and again became engaged in an argument. He pulled a pellet pistol and shot both victims.
Detectives questioned both victims about the shooting and they were less than forthcoming about the events leading to the argument and shooting. They both contacted the detective later that day and told him they had lied about the identity of the shooter and that they wanted the case dropped. The detective told them that the case could not simply be dropped. They then returned to their original story, but told the detective they would not cooperate or participate in the prosecution of the person responsible.
The detective presented the case to the District Attorney’s Office upon hearing that victims would not cooperate a decision was made to not refer charges in this case.
