On October 5, 2021, Jefferson County Detectives opened an investigation into the shooting death of 48-year-old Jonathan Wayne Jones.  Jones was found deceased inside his home from apparent gunshot wounds.  During the investigation, it was discovered that there may have been a struggle inside the home before the victim was killed.  On Thursday, October 7, 2021, Detectives were able to develop a suspect, whom they subsequently interviewed.

Le’Antoan Devonte’ Patterson was arrested late Thursday on the charges of capital murder.  Warrants have also been obtained for capital murder against Justin Torionne Taylor in conjunction with Jones’ murder as well.  Taylor is still at large.  It is believed that robbery was the motive for the shooting.
