Domestic Shooting In Eastern Jefferson County
On Sunday July 14, 2019 at 12:24pm a woman called the Sheriff’s Office to report that her husband had shot her child’s father. Deputies responded to the 100 block of Haversham Dr. to investigate. The woman said that the man had somehow entered their home and began to assault her. The woman stated that the man was armed with a pistol. The woman’s husband was able to get his own pistol and shoot the man. Deputies arrived on the scene and recovered both weapons. The injured man was transported to the hospital for treatment. We have not been updated on his condition. Sheriff’s detectives are continuing the investigation into this incident.
Update on 7-13-19 Center Point Shooting
UPDATE: On Saturday July 13, 2019 deputies responded to a call of shots fired at the apartments at 25th Court NW. The Shooting incident actually occurred across the street in the parking lot of a convenience store. Deputies found 2 men suffering from gunshot wounds. The shooting occurred after a dispute between 2 groups of men. Detectives were able to determine which group confronted the other and began shooting at them. Detectives have arrested and charged 2 men with Assault 1st degree. 35 year old Brandon McKinney is charged with Assault 1st degree bond $25,000.00 and 26 year old Courtney Graham is Charged with Assault 1st degree bond $25,000.00. The victims were transported to a hospital with non-life threatening injuries. One of the offenders also suffered a gunshot wound during the incident. His injuries were minor.
2 Men Shot in Center Point
On Saturday July 13, 2019 at 10:04pm deputies responded to a call of shots fired at the apartments at 25th Court NW. Deputies arrived and found two men suffering from gunshot wounds. The shooting apparently occurred after a dispute with another group of men. Detectives and evidence technicians are on the scene investigating the incident. The injured men were transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Child Attacked by Dog
On Friday July 12, 2019 at 11:29am we received a call for assistance at a convenience store at 7757 Highway 75 in the Palmerdale community. The caller reported that a 4 year old boy had been attacked by a dog. The caller reported that the dog was in the truck with the child when the dog suddenly attacked the child. The child’s mother attempted to get the dog off of the child and was assisted by several citizens. They were finally able to get the dog off the child but the child suffered severe injuries. The child had to be airlifted to Children’s hospital for treatment. Animal Control will take custody of the dog. This incident is still under investigation.

Sheriff’s Narcotics Unit Arrest Heroin Dealer
The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Narcotics Unit has arrested 34 year old Terry Odell Burrell for Unlawful Distribution of a Controlled substance. On Monday July 8, 2019 the Sheriff’s Narcotics Unit served a search warrant at a residence in the 7600 block of Henry Ellen Drive in the Leeds community after a 2 month investigation. The search warrant yielded 29.55 grams of heroin, 62 grams of marijuana, 3.21 grams of MDMA, 18.6 grams of cocaine and 18 grams of methamphetamines. Burrell has no bond on the distribution charge and additional charges are likely.
